Full description
Environment Agency, 2006-2007, LiDAR data JPEG image (1 metre resolution), LIDAR SY2188 Environment Agency D0075827 Nov 2006 - Mar 2007 (Cartographic). SDV356180.
Several small scale extractive pits are visible as earthworks.

Probable former quarries are visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from Lidar data captured in 2006 to 2007, west of Beer. One pit is depicted but not annotated on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch map at circa SY 217888. The lidar derived images support the interpretation that this pit is in fact one of several former quarries near situated near the head of an east facing combe. The pits are on average circa 20 metres in diameter, indicative of relatively small scale extraction. The date and function of the quarries are unknown but it is probable that they passed out of use prior to the 1880s.
