The possible former extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit and banked feature.

A possible extraction pit of post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit and banked feature on aerial photographs of 1996 at Knowle Corner Wood. The possible former extraction pit is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 17.5m in length by 15.5m in width and is partly encased to the north, east and south by a slight earthwork bank, possibly derived from up-cast material. The feature partly truncates a north to south aligned former field boundary of potential medieval date along its western edge. The interpretation of an extraction pit seems the most plausible given the dominance of other such features recorded within the immediate area. It was not clearly visible on other aerial photographs or digital images made available to the survey.
