An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1950 onwards, to the north of West Down Farm. The former extraction pit is symbolised as a possible pond on the Littleham parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48. It is oval in shape, measures approximately 24m in length by 20m in width and is located within an area dominated by similar such earthwork features. The former extraction pit is largely obscured by dense tree coverage on aerial photographs made avialble to the survey, although by 1988 the former extraction pit appears to have been completely levelled.
