Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2013-2014, South Devon Coast Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV351146.

A probable quarry pit is visible as an irregular dark cropmark on aerial photographs taken in 1947, and as an elliptical earthwork, circa 35 metres in maximum visible extent, on aerial photographs from 1963 onwards and on images derived from Lidar data captured between 1998 and 2007. Several old chalk pits are depicted in the vicinity on the late nineteenth century mapping, but no features are depicted in this exact location, so any quarry here would probably have passed out of use before the late nineteenth century. Earthwork remains are very likely to survive.

Pink, F., 2014, South Devon Coast Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey Desk-Based Assessment (Interpretation). SDV357736.

The field name 'Pit Bury' within plot 117 on the Axmouth Tithe Map of 1842 may indicate the presence of a pit within this plot, although no features are depicted on the map.
