Earthwork banks of probable Second World War date are visible on aerial photographs of 1941 onwards on land to the west of Sunnydale. The function of the two linear banks is largely uncertain, although may have formed part of an anti-invasion obstacle or possible boundary for a temporary military site not visible on aerial photographs. The earthwork banks have been completely levelled on aerial photographs of 1945.
