Full description

Newman, P., 2013, An Archaeological Assessment of Halshanger and Horridge Commons, Dartmoor, Devon, 12 (Report - Assessment). SDV356396.

A three month prospecting lease was granted to William Washington Mansell in 1843 by James Woodleigh to search for tin, copper and lead. The bounds of the mine included part of Halsanger Common and Rushslade Common. An isolated tin prospecting pit at SX74647388 possibly reflects a minor search for minerals within the mine bounds although its date is unknown.
