Walls, S., 2010, The Materiality of Remembrance: Twentieth Century War Memorials in Devon, 231, 284; HAW02 (Post-Graduate Thesis). SDV355902.

Hawkchurch had erected an external memorial after the First World War, but had included the names of the dead upon the internally located church memorial. The war memorial cross had a tablet added in 2004 with the names of the twentieth century war dead from the parish.
