Sims, R., Knight, S. & Houghton, E., 2020-2021, East Devon AONB Lidar Assessment and Desk based Assessment (Interpretation). SDV363914.

An earthwork depression is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. It corresponds approximately with a plot recorded as a pit under coppice cultivation on the Tithe Map and with a small enclosure of scrub depicted on the First and Second Edition OS maps. The depression is interpreted as an extractive pit of post-medieval origin, that ceased extraction prior to circa 1840 and subsequently established as a coppice.
