Farmstead dating to at least the early 16th century, based on documentary evidence. Tithe Map shows a farmhouse and three small buildings on the west and a barn and mowhay on the east of the farm. Farmhouse and two other buildings gone by the late 19th century.

Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Depicted on the Tithe Map (882-883 on Apportionment). Downhouse: mowhay and barn, houses and yard. At this time, there was a farmhouse with three small associated buildings on the west, and two other buildings (mowhay and barn) on the east.

On the late 19th century historic map, only two of the ancillary buildings surrounding the farmhouse remain, along with the two buildings on the east side of the farmstead (mowhay and barn from the Tithe Map).

By the early 20th century, only one small structure is depicted on the west, with the two eastern buildings.

The aerial photograph shows the newer buildings constructed by the mowhay and barn buildings to the east, and that the original structure remaining on the western side is ruined, or at least has no roof at this point.
