Exeter Flying Post of April 1864 carried an advertisement for tenders for erection of new farm buildings at Hayes Farm, East Budleigh. This was presumably at Hayes Barton, but whether the proposed work was in resepect of the farm complex by the road, or the farm buildings attached to the old Barton is not clear.The buildings by the house and those by the road are Rolle Estate buildings, but the Great Barn is possibly pre-Mark Rolle.
