Exeter Flying Post of April 1864 carried an advertisement for tenders for erection of new farm buildings at Pinn in Otterton. This was almost certainly Lower Pinn. Although Cherry and Pevsner state that the farm buildings were erected in 1851, 'one of the earliest examples of the Rolle rebuilding programme', the farmouse, with its traditional Georgian sash windows, was built in 1864 to the design of the architect Joseph Rowell of Newton Abbot. (The date of 1881 on a west end gable must refer to a later addition.)
