The extent of the extraction pit is symbolised on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s.

The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947, to the south of Stout. The extraction pit is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 24m in length by 12m in width and abuts an extant field boundary along the pit’s eastern edge. The extraction pit likely survives as an earthwork, although is obscured with dense tree cover.
