Old Lime Kiln and Barn, Kersdown Barton, Ford Road, Bampton.
Description: The old lime kiln and barn are located at Kersdown Barton, on Ford Road. Quarrying and lime burning for agriculture was an important element of the economy particularly in the 16th century, based on the limestone quarries on the outskirts of the town. Kersdown Barton was first mentioned in print in 1723, and the name is thought to have derived from the names Great Carsdone and Little Carsdone in 1665.
