Description: Old Packhorse Way is known locally as ‘stony way’ and is a medieval sheep driving pathway. It is important as it is part of Brampton’s heritage, as the town had developed a strong woollen and serge trade by the 14th Century and underpinned the town’s economy for several centuries. The Old Packhorse Way steeply ascends to Ashleigh Park and onwards to Bampton Down. There are a number of cottages alongside Old Packhorse Way, three of which are listed.
