There was a public house called The Blue Ball in Sidford in 1650. It was owned by the Balle family.

Blue Ball Inn. On main Exeter-Lyme Regis road. Two storey thatched group, the centre set back from the road, forming small court between wings in front. Cob and stone rubble walls, roughcast 19th century wood casements and sashes with later glazing bars. Plain doorway.
