Former field boundaries of probable medieval to post medieval date were visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s and images derived from lidar data as an irregular arrangement of shallow earthwork ditches and low earthwork banks between Bolealler House and Higher Shutelake Farm.
The earthwork ditches do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Tithe map for Cullompton or the Ordnance Survey first edition 25inch map of the 1880s-1890s. It is therefore probable that the boundaries had passed out of use prior to the 1840s. A further relict boundary can be seen as a similar earthwork immediately to the west, but this is depicted on the Tithe Map and, although not depicted on the Ordnance Survey first edition, its former course is symbolised by a row of trees and as such it has not been transcribed.
