Summary
Irregularly shaped pits visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 to the north-west of Higher Weaver Cross were probably the remains of gravel pits of 19th or early 20th century date. The earthwork was not identifiable on more recent aerial photographs and has probably been levelled.

Gravel pits are depicted and annotated.

Irregularly shaped earthwork pits are visible.

Two large and two smaller irregularly shaped pits visible were as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 to the north-west of Higher Weaver Cross. Although more extensive, the earthworks correspond in part to features annotated on the Ordnance Survey second edition 25 inch map (1904-1906) as Gravel Pits and are probably therefore roughly contemporary extractive pits. The earthworks were not identifiable on more recent aerial photographs and have probably been levelled.
