Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

A roughly oval shallow earthwork pit up to 30 metres in diameter was visible on aerial photographs of 1946 and images derived from lidar data captured from 2005 to 2010, to the south and west of Higher Weaver Cross.
The earthwork pit corresponds with a probable pond depicted on the Tithe Map for Plymtree, but it is possible the pond was itself the remains of a earlier quarry pit of probable medieval or post medieval date. The pit was not depicted on the Ordnance Survey first edition map and had probably therefore passed from use by the 1880s.
