Orchard tree planting banks of probable post medieval to 19th century date were visible on aerial photographs from the 1940s to the 1960s as earthwork banks to the north of Langford.
The banks do not correspond with an orchard depicted on the Ordnance Survey first edition 25inch map but the parcel of land is listed as Lower Orchard on the Tithe apportionment for Cullompton. The parcel of land probably ceased to be used as an orchard as part of wider land reorganisation that saw numerous field boundaries cleared in this area between the 1840s to the 1880s. The earthworks were not visible on more recent image and have probably been levelled.
