Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The western edge of the quarry appears to be partly abutted by and so pre-date, a field boundary first depicted on the Collumpton parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48.

Royal Air Force, 1946, RAF/CPE/UK/1823 RS, RAF/CPE/UK/1823 RS 4306-07 04-NOV-1946 (Aerial Photograph). SDV356902.

Geonex UK, 1992, /49/92, Devon County Council Geonex/49/92 016-17 13-MAY-1992 (Aerial Photograph). SDV356903.

The former quarry has been completely levelled and the site re-landscaped as part of Padbrook Park Golf Centre.

Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

A quarry of potential medieval to post-medieval date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the east of Colebrook. The elongated pit is east to west aligned, measures approximately 80m in length by 22m in width and is situated in an area characterised by similar such features. A noticeable kink in a former field boundary first depicted on the parish tithe map may suggest the quarry pit pre-dates it and, as such, may be of potential medieval date. It remains visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs up until 1967, although has been completely levelled and the site re-landscaped as part of Padbrook Park Golf Centre by 1992.
