A quarry of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from Lidar data captured between 2005-2010, to the northwest of Haywood Farm. The fairly irregular shaped quarry pit is first symbolised on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s and is visible as two separate, but adjacent, earthwork pits located either side of a northeast to southwest aligned stream. The quarry measures approximately 112m in length by 80m in width and is situated in an area characterised by similar such features. The former quarry is completely obscured by dense tree cover and, as such, was not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey.
