A quarry of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1967 onwards, to the north of Knightswood Farm. The irregular shaped quarry pit is first symbolised on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s abutting an historic and extant field boundary along its eastern edge. It measures approximately 45m in length by 19m in width and is situated in an area characterised by similar such features. The earthwork pit was largely obscured by dense tree cover on aerial photographs, although is clearly visible on digital images derived from Lidar data captured during 2005.
