Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the east of Chestnut Avenue, Cullompton. The site of the orchard is listed on the Cullompton parish tithe apportionment of approximately 1838-48, although by the time of the Second Edition Ordnance Survey map of between 1904-06, the orchard appears to have been largely cleared. Aerial photographs of 1947 show a series of parallel north to south aligned earthwork banks, upon which the fruit trees were established. These surviving earthwork banks occupy an area of approximately 0.11 hectares of low lying, fairly level ground within a single rectilinear shaped plot which is depicted on historical mapping. The orchard banks remain visible as a series of earthwork banks on digital images derived from Lidar data captured during 2005.
