---|
Summary
Linear earthwork banks are visible on aerial photographs taken from the 1940s to 2010, and partly on images derived from lidar data captured in 2005. They are interpreted as orchard banks of post-medieval or modern date. Some trees and earthworks survive, but the majority have been destroyed by subsequent residential development.

Linear earthwork banks aligned approximately north to south and between 3 and 5 metres in width are visible on aerial photographs taken from the 1940s, and on images derived from lidar data captured in 2005. They cover nearly three hectares in three separate fields, all depicted as orchards on the late-19th century mapping. The earthworks are interpreted as banks for fruit tree planting, and are likely to be post-medieval or modern in date. Orchard trees are visible on the 1940s aerial photographs, and both trees and banks are visible on aerial photographs taken in 2010 in one field centred at ST0634312269. However the other two fields have been developed for housing.
