A former field boundary of probably medieval origin is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards as an earthwork ditch, traversing the west facing combe slopes between Berry Farm and Town Farm, Clyst St Lawrence. The eastern half of the boundary survived into the 20th century and is depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch second edition map. The western half of the boundary is not depicted on the Tithe Map for Clyst St Lawrence and had therefore probably passed out of use prior to the 1840s. The earthwork remains clearly visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2005 and 2010.
