An earthwork pit is visible.

A pit visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data under White Down Copse is probably the remains of a quarry of probable post-medieval date. The pit abuts the north-eastern edge of a plantation track and therefore might be contemporary with the plantation. However, there is some suggestion that the track might in part be formed of a medieval hollow way and the pit might therefore be earlier in date. The earthwork is obscured from view on aerial photographs by dense tree and field investigation is recommended to eliminate the possibility that the earthworks are artefacts created by the processing of the lidar data.
