A large earthwork pit is visible in the side of the hillside.

A possible quarry pit is visible as a large cut into the west side of the hillside above the river Culm on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards and on images derived from lidar data captured between 2005 and 2010. It is not depicted on historic mapping and may be a post-medieval quarry that fell out of use prior to the late 19th century. At 50 metres wide it is possible that this was at least partly a natural feature, but the edges are well-defined and the base very level, suggesting an anthropomorphic origin.
