Orchard tree planting banks of probable post medieval to 19th or early 20th century date were visible as earthwork banks to the south of Washbeerhayes Farm on aerial photographs of the 1960s onwards. The banks fall within an orchard circa 0.9 hectares in area depicted on the Ordnance Survey first edition 25inch map, which remained densely planted into the 1940s, obscuring the earthwork banks from view. All trees had been cleared by the mid-1960s and possible drainage ditches had been cut between some of the surviving earthwork banks, which extended over approximately 0.7 hectares of the orchard. The banks remained clearly visible as earthworks on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010.
