Name:Bronze Age Axe from Three Horseshoes Farm, Southleigh

Summary

Flat axe (leng 15mm, widt 8mm) found in 1872 in the earth of a ditch close to the eastern hedge of the lane. Longitudinal cuts are visible on both sides of this axe. It was found 200m down the lane near cross dyke (hutchinson, tda).

HUTCHINSON, TDA, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV134120.

Flat axe (leng 15mm, widt 8mm) found in 1872 in the earth of a ditch close to the eastern hedge of the lane. Longitudinal cuts are visible on both sides of this axe. It was found 200m down the lane near cross dyke (hutchinson, tda).

Found in lane off lyme regis - exeter road near cross dykes behind the three horseshoes. Flat axe, one face shows a step cutting edge bevelled, out-turned blade, both faces worked into a pattern of long indentations. Length 118mm, blade width 64mm (pearce).
