Deserted farmstead shown on 19th century maps also recorded as 'Mardon', 'Maredon' and 'Merdon' in 16th century. The farm appears to have remained in use until the late 19th century, until the building of Trenchford Reservoir in the very early 20th century.

Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

'Maredon' shown on 19th century Tithe Map but the buildings have been erased. The Apportionment lists Field Number 899 as 'Homestead and Garden'.

'Higher Mardon' shown on 19th century map as a U-shaped group of buildings with an irregular shaped building to the north and a rectangular building to the north-west. A well is shown as 'W' to the south-west and a small square building to the north.
