Ministry of Public Building and Works, Southleigh and Fairway Group of Barrows on Broad Down (Schedule Document). SDV342868.

Round barrow north of Southleigh Road, in southern section of Bronze Age cemetery extending to Farway Hill and Gittisham Hill. Ground previously cultivated in early 19th century. Other details: Barrow g.

A small mound of earth and stones, the southern half of which was dug into by Kirwan, and after finding burnt bones and ashes, abandoned. Other details: Barrow 56.

Heavily obscured by trees, scrub and furze, it appears as a rather amorphous mound about 13 metres north-south by 11 metres east-west and is about 0.5 metres high.

Simpson, S. J. + Noble, S., 1993, Archaeological Survey and Management Study of Areas on Gittisham Hill, Farway Hill, and Broad Down, East Devon, 24 (Report - Survey). SDV123162.

Visited 4th November 1992. Probably stable though neglected. On an unenclosed area of land adjacent to the roadside, used as a general dumping area for hardcore, concrete, tarmac and subsoil, and for storing silage bales. Generally overgrown by gorse, brambles and trees.

Visited on 08/07/1997. One of two bowl barrows which lie close to one another on waste ground to the east of Roncombe Gate on the north-west side of the Broad Down round barrow cemetery. The easternmost barrow was impossible to measure due to undergrowth and accumulated rubbish.
