A roughly circular earthwork approximately 20 metres in diameter pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1946, overlooking Heal-eye Stream to the east of Higher Roach Farm, Silverton. The pit might be evidence of a quarry or extractive pit of medieval to post-medieval date. The pit remains visible as a possible cropmark and earthwork on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010 and images derived from lidar data from 2005-2012.
