Probable plantation banks of modern date are visible as a series of earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the northwest of Turley Down Farm. The linear and parallel banks are northeast to southwest aligned and occupy a single rectilinear shaped plot on northeast sloping ground. The site of the earthwork banks is symbolised as a plantation, forming part of May’s Copse, on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although aerial photographs of 1947 show that the trees have been completely removed. The earthwork banks, upon which the trees were planted, remain visible as a series of linear earthworks on digital images derived from Lidar data captured between 2005 and 2010.
