Cropmark evidence of a possible ditched enclosure of prehistoric to Roman date was visible on aerial photographs of 1999 on south facing slopes to the west of Bradninch. The faintly visible cropmark defines the south-western corner of a possibly rectilinear or square enclosure to the west of Back Lane, the road potentially cutting the enclosure.
