Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

An earthwork bank of uncertain date is visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the northeast of Stable Farm. The broad linear earthwork measures approximately 17m in width, is northeast to southwest aligned and is situated on moderate west facing slope. The date and function of this earthwork is largely uncertain. It may form part of an associated feature of the Cranmore Castle hillfort, earthworks of which are located to the immediate east, or perhaps more likely a former field boundary bank of potential medieval date which passed out of use by the time of the parish tithe map. Other potential former field boundaries are located in close proximity to the north. The earthwork bank remains visible on digital images derived from Lidar data captured between 2005 and 2012.
