Full description

An oval mound is visible.

A low mound was visible as an earthwork on images derived from lidar data, near the head of a combe west of Ellerhayes. The mound was roughly ovoid in shape and measured approximately 26 metres long and 18 wide. The earthwork might be the remains of a barrow of Bronze Age date. Relict field boundary banks of possible medieval origin appear to be aligned on the mound and it is possible the mound acted as a marker in laying out later field patterns. A similar earthwork can be seen nearly 200 metres to the north-west.
