Summary
The control tower is all that remains of the airfield that was originally built here in the 1930s. After use in the Second World War the airfield remained in civilian use for a number of years. Part of the site is now the Park & Ride car park.

In the 1930s, an airfield was constructed on the flat land at the top of the Totnes Road. After use during the Second World War, it continued as a civilian aerodrome for some years. Part of it has since become a car park for the town’s Park & Ride scheme, while other parts are used by the school as a playing field. The control tower still stands beside the road.
