Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Two separate farmsteads shown on 19th century Tithe Map. The Apportionment for 'Higher East Lownstone' to the west lists Field Number 925 as 'Farm House &c' and Field Number 924 as 'Garden'. The Apportionment for 'Lower East Lownstone' to the east lists Field Number 925 as 'Farm House &c' and Field Number 903 as 'Boothway Orchard & Barn'.

'Lounston' shown on 19th century map as two groups of buildings around two separate yards with a pump shown as 'P' in both yards. A separate large rectangular building is shown in an orchard on the opposite side of the road.

'Lounston' shown on early 20th century map as two goups of buildings around two yards with a small building to the west and a large building to the north which appears to have a horse engine adjoining the north-east side.
