Full description
Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
Farmstead shown on 19th century Tithe Map as a group of six or seven buildings around an irregular shaped yard. The Apportionment for 'Sigford Estate' lists Field Number 1103 as 'Farm House &c' and Field Number 1102 as 'Garden'.

Sigford was mentioned as 'Sigeforda' in 1086, 'Sygeford' in 1242, 'Siggeford' in 1281, 'Syggeford' in 1356 and 'Ouerasigford in 1408. The last reference is to 'Over' or 'Higher' Sigford.
