The cropmark ditch is not depicted on the Tiverton parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48.

A linear cropmark ditch of uncertain date is visible on specialist oblique aerial photographs of 1992, to the south of Bolham Hill Roman fort, Tiverton. The nature of the north to south aligned cropmark ditch is largely unclear, although it seems possible that it either relates to the Roman fort to the immediate north, as a possible roadside ditch, or represents part of a relict medieval or post-medieval field boundary which likely passed out of use by the time of the parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48. The cropmark was not clearly visible on other aerial photographs or digital images made available to the survey.
