Extraction pits of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as two adjacent earthworks on aerial photographs of 1950 onwards, on Sock Hill. The two oval to irregular shaped earthworks measure up to 39m in length and are located in an area where numerous similar such features have been identified, including two adjacent extraction pits of similar nature located approximately 93m to the northeast. The earthwork pits remain visible on digital images derived from Lidar data captured between 2005 and 2010.
