Earthwork banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible on aerial photographs of 1950 onwards, to the northeast of Merry’s Farm. The earthwork banks are broadly east to west aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.14 hectares of fairly level land, confined within a single triangular shaped plot depicted on the parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48. The function of the earthworks is, however, largely unclear, although may represent the remains of forestry or orchard banks, or represent a surviving area of improvement ridge and furrow. The earthworks remain visible on digital images derived from Lidar data captured between 2005 and 2010.
