A possible water meadow system of probable 19th century date is visible as a series of earthwork ditches on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, off Old Jaycroft Road, Willand. The system occupies an area of approximately 0.60 hectares of gentle southeast facing slope. It comprises a series of parallel gutters which are possibly fed by a northwest to southeast aligned earthwork ditch, or former field boundary ditch, which bisects the gutters and appears to divert the flow of water from a drain or stream which flows parallel to Old Jaycroft Road to the northwest. The earthwork gutters remain visible on aerial photographs up until 1950, although their survival after this date is unclear. The northwest to southeast aligned earthwork ditch which bisects the system, however, remains visible on digital images derived from Lidar data captured between 2005 and 2010.
