Earthwork banks of potential medieval or post-medieval to modern date are visible on aerial photographs of 1966 onwards, at Lower Town, Halberton. The broad and low parallel earthworks measure up to 23m in width and are northeast to southwest aligned. The earthworks may represent the remains of a series of medieval strip fields, being closely comparable to those depicted on the tithe map to the immediate southwest, or may equally represent an area of 18th-19th century improvement ridge and furrow to help facilitate agricultural improvement and drainage. The earthwork banks remain visible on digital images derived from Lidar data captured between 2005 and 2010.
