Extraction pits of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as two earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1950 onwards, to the east of Pitt Farm. The adjacent earthworks are sub-oval in shape, with that to the south measuring approximately 32m in length and depicted as a possible pond on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s and that to the north measuring approximately 21m in length. The extraction pits would have likely been utilised by Pitt Farm to provide building materials such as stone or clay for works arounf the farmstead. They remain visible as slight earthwork pits on digital images derived from Lidar data captured during 2005.
