Field No. 1022 on the Colyton Tithe Map of 1843 was known as ‘Lisham’s Meadow or The Vineyard’. This steep terraced field may reveal evidence of ancient or medieval viticulture. Other vineyards recorded within Devon date mainly from the 14th or 15th centuries.
