Summary

Small farm or homestead depicted on the Tithe Map (named 'Derbyshire'). Later in the 19th century, some additional buildings are constructed and the larger house (known as Stoneycroft) built to the south-east. Remains of the farm now known as 'Coachman's Cottage'.

Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Homestead is depicted on the Tithe Map with a single dwelling accompanied by a couple of garden plots 277 and 278 on the Sampford Spiney apportionment. The Tithe Map and apportionment record the name as 'Derbyshire', not Stonycroft.

The late 19th century historic map shows the dwelling and some small associated buildings , labelled as 'Stonycroft'. Other small buildings are shown to the south-east as well.

Depiction on the early 20th century historic map shows the buildings to be largely the same as the late 19th century depiction. A large building has now been constructed to the south-east, and this is labelled 'Stoneycroft'. No specific name has been given the homestead / farm.
