A probable quarry pit is visible as a large irregularly shaped earthwork, circa 40 by 20 metres, on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards and on images derived from lidar data captured between 2005 and 2010. No quarry is depicted here on historic mapping, although the field boundary appears to deviate to accommodate the southern edge, and it may be a post-medieval quarry that fell out of use prior to the late 19th century.
