Full description

Wade-Martins, S., 2000, The Farmsteads of Devon: A Thematic Survey, 19, 28 (Monograph). SDV351739.

The largest known linhay is a cob building of 26 bays at Shobrooke Barton, and is part of a planned foldyard of the mid 19th century.

Child, P., 2003, Historic Farm Buildings Group: Annual Conference Devon 19-21 September 2003, 18; Fig (Report - non-specific). SDV351745.

From the south-east corner of the barns there originally extended a range of cob linhays with 18 bays which formed the east side of the yard. 6 bays collapsed about 15 years ago, leaving a gap in the north east corner. The principal beams are tusk tenoned to the wooden front posts although the collars are bolted; this perhaps indicates a date in the mid 19th century.
