Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Maps and Apportionments (Website). SDV349463.

Plot 271 is recorded as 'Lower Beacon Field' and plot 272 is recorded as 'Higher Beacon Field' within the Axmouth Tithe Apportionment.

Field called Lower Beacon Field on Tithe Map/Tithe Apportionment with Higher Beacon Field at SY 2603 9000 (Tithe Apportionment No. 271, 272).
Axmouth Tithe Map/Tithe Apportionment c. 1846/1842.


Pink, F., 2014-2015, South Devon Coast Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey Desk-Based Assessment (Interpretation). SDV357736.

The field names 'Higher Beacon Field' and 'Lower Beacon Field' within plots 272 and 271 on the Axmouth Tithe Map of 1842 indicate the proximity of these fields to a beacon. There is no further evidence for a beacon in this location on either the Tithe Map, or the First and Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey maps.
